Understanding Blockchain & Cryptocurrency with Scott Beck

January 11, 2019 | Posted in: Business, Global Business, Money, Technology

Scott Beck (YPO Lone Star – Dallas) has worked at some of the top financial institutions in the country where he was instrumental in financing billions of dollars of high-profile projects located throughout the country. As an Associate Vice-President at JP Morgan Chase and Co.’s Lab Morgan, he focused on new business formation and corporate strategy for the bank globally. Prior to joining JP Morgan Chase, Mr. Beck was a member of SG Cowen’s leveraged Finance Group, where he provided support to clients who access the high yield and leveraged finance capital markets. Preceding SG, Mr. Beck was a senior auditor at Ernst and Young LLP.

Scott transitioned from a traditional banking background to forming a company focused on blockchain and cryptocurrencies. “While observing fintech and distributed ledger technology it became increasingly apparent that traditional banking is changing. In order to gain a broader understanding of cryptocurrencies I began by reading as much information on the topic as I could get my hands on. As I quickly learned, many people were still in the tinkering phase of this new technology and I was left with many unanswered questions. I determined the best way to learn would be the creation of my own company, the purchasing of equipment and setting up our own mining operation. Only through this hand on approach could I gain the first-hand knowledge of this fascinating new monetary frontier.”
